Beginners Guide to Homegrown Hydroponics

Hydroponics is growing plants in a soil less medium and with floods of the liquid nutrient. Nurseries were put in a pot perlite or gravel, or other resources that can help to preserve and then continuously and regularly watered.

Basic Hydroponics Equipment

* Containers – this is the growing base with plants in them. It must have a installed drainage mechanism.

* Light – It is very important and can achieve either by artificial lights or use a well-lit patio or balcony. Full sun is too harsh.

* Pump – It is the engine room of the process. The pump must move the pipes of water supply networks in the tank.

* Sump Tank / Reservoir – It keeps runoff from the container, grow beds.

* Growth medium – It could be something that will keep the plants, coconut fibres, balls of clay used, perlite and gravel are used for it.

* Reticulation – For this we need a small tube running from the pump to the growing beds and then draining it back into the reservoir tank.

* Nutrients – Plants need 20 different mineral elements for successful growth.

These are;

Water Generated by Nutrients

1. The carbon (C)

2. Hydrogen (H)

3. Oxygen (O)

Major Mineral Nutrients

4. Nitrogen (N)

5. Phosphorus (P)

6. Potassium (K)

7. Sulphur (S)

8. Calcium (Ca)

9. Magnesium (Mg)

Minor Mineral Nutrients

10. Manganese (Mn)

11. Boron (B)

12. Sodium (Na)

13. Chloride (Cl)

14. Copper (Cu)

15. Iron (Fe)

16. Zinc (Zn)

17. Molybdenum (Mo)

18. Nickel (Ni)

Beneficial nutrients

19. Silicon (Si)

20. Cobalt (Co)

All these are required as a liquid solution that you can buy or make yourself if you are willing to give it a try.

The Plants which can be Grown Hydroponically

Vegetables and some fruits are the main crops in a hydroponics systems, but they are not only the plants that can grow with this method. But it is quite difficult to make these arrangements well enough to become your sole garden but if space is limited it is certainly a possibility.

You do not need to do something special with your plants to grow, but you’ll need to remove any soil before inserting them into the medium. This can just be washed, leaving the roots exposed.

Operating Expenses

The facilities here in hydroponic cultivation should be very inexpensive to operate. The only costs associated with this are the mineral nutrients – most of which can be avoided if one chooses instead aquaponics hydroponics plants. Furthermore, the source of energy needed to operate the pump, which can also be compensated for the use of renewable sources like wind or solar energy.

Future  of Homegrown Hydroponics

The futures of hydroponic gardening at home are enormous. As more is known about this technology over many gardeners will start to dabble in and the producers will be able to create kits, nutrient solutions and even plants a lot cheaper than now.
